Miter & Bevel Saw Angle Calculation

Calculate miter angle and bevel angle settings for 45°, 60°, and irregular corner wall angles on single & compound miter saws.

Target Angle
22.5°
Angle Type
Octagon Miter Angle (22.5°)
Complementary
67.5°
Supplementary
157.5°

How to Measure This Angle on an Image or Photo

To cut joints for an out-of-square corner, measure the total corner angle (e.g. 88°) and divide by 2 to get your miter saw setting (44°). For 8-sided octagonal boxes, each miter angle is 22.5°.

Step-by-Step Measurement Procedure

  1. Upload your image: Drag and drop a photo or blueprint onto the Online Protractor canvas.
  2. Position Point B (Vertex): Drag the central vertex dot directly onto the corner or angle origin.
  3. Align Ray A (Baseline): Drag the left handle so ray A aligns perfectly with your reference line.
  4. Adjust Ray C (Angle Ray): Drag the right handle until ray C lies exactly along the sloped edge.
  5. Read Angle Output: The tool displays degrees, radians, complementary, and supplementary angles in real time.
